Privacy policy
Last updated: 4 July 2026
The short version: ToneGen (tonegeneratorfree.com) runs entirely in your browser. We don't ask you to sign up, we don't collect personal information, and we don't sell or share data with anyone. The sections below explain this in full.
Information we collect
None that identifies you. Our tools are generated on your own device using the Web Audio API. There is no backend server that receives your activity, no account system, and no audio is recorded or uploaded. We do not collect your name, email or location unless you choose to email us directly.
Local storage on your device
We store a small preference — such as your light or dark theme choice — in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. This stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and you can clear it any time through your browser settings.
Cookies, analytics and ads
We do not set tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics or advertising on the tools. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and describe what is used before it takes effect.
Hosting and server logs
The site is served as static files by our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages). Like most web hosts, they may automatically process standard technical information — such as IP address and browser type — in server logs to deliver the site securely and protect against abuse. This is handled by the host under their own privacy terms; we do not build profiles from it.
Shareable links
When you use “Copy link” to share a tone, your settings (such as frequency and waveform) are encoded directly into the URL. That link is just a set of parameters — it is not stored by us and contains no personal information.
Children's privacy
ToneGen is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Any changes will appear on this page with a new “last updated” date above.
