Terms & conditions

Last updated: 4 July 2026

By using ToneGen (tonegeneratorfree.com) and its tools, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

The service

ToneGen provides free, browser-based audio tools — including a tone generator, noise generator, metronome and related utilities — for personal and professional use. The tools are provided free of charge and “as is”, and we may change, add or remove features at any time.

Hearing and equipment safety

Please protect your hearing and your equipment. These tools can produce loud, continuous and very high- or low-frequency sounds. Exposure to loud audio — especially high frequencies you may not fully perceive — can cause hearing damage or discomfort, and can damage speakers and headphones.

  • Always start at a low volume and increase it gradually.
  • Never raise the volume to “prove” you can hear a high or low tone.
  • Stop immediately if you feel any discomfort.

You are responsible for using the tools at a safe volume. You use them at your own risk.

No medical advice

ToneGen is provided for general information, testing and entertainment only. Nothing on this site — including the frequency pages, the high-frequency “hearing-range” tones, and any descriptions of tones or noise — is medical advice, and no tool here is a diagnostic or therapeutic device. Listening to a high-frequency tone is a casual curiosity check, not a calibrated hearing assessment. We make no claims that any frequency or sound treats, cures or affects any health condition. If you have any concerns about your hearing or health, consult a qualified professional, such as an audiologist or doctor.

No warranty

The tools are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. While we aim for accuracy — for example in frequency output — we do not guarantee that the tools are error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose, including scientific or medical calibration.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ToneGen and its operator are not liable for any damage or loss arising from the use of, or inability to use, the site — including any hearing damage, damage to equipment, or loss of data. Your only remedy if you are unhappy with the tools is to stop using them.

Acceptable use

Please don't misuse the site — for example by attempting to disrupt it, or by using the tones to harm, harass or endanger others. You are responsible for how you use the sounds you generate.

Intellectual property

The site's design, text and code are owned by ToneGen. You are welcome to use the tools and share links to them; please don't copy the site wholesale or present it as your own.

Third-party links

The site may link to external pages we don't control. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site evolves. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. The “last updated” date above shows when they last changed.
